Newport

CLIENT – STOCKLAND

(2014 to Present – City of Moreton Bay)

In the Newport development on the Redcliffe Peninsula, KNg played a pivotal role as the Principal Consulting Engineer with Stockland, Australia’s leading residential developer. Our collaboration in the Newport development contributed to its recent recognition as the Best Master Planned Community in the esteemed 2023 UDIA Queensland Awards for Excellence. This accomplishment reflects our contribution to the creation of an expansive oceanside community featuring 2,500 residential lots, complemented by a carefully designed mix of retail, medium-density, and commercial spaces.

Overseeing the design and construction supervision of 68 residential stages, including the creation of a lake and associated trunk infrastructure, KNg took charge of complex bulk earthworks design and management. This involved the concept, detailed design, and construction management of tasks such as lake excavation, preload surcharging, and cut-to-fill operations.

Notably, KNg addressed challenges posed by highly acidic and compressible marine clays, KNg collaborated with geotechnical and environmental experts, resulting in cost-effective engineering solutions and streamlined construction timelines. The engineering solutions implemented, ranging from innovative methodologies for marine clay treatment to the strategic use of site-sourced materials – significantly reduced development costs, mitigated project risks, and shortened construction timeframes.  Moreover, KNg’s contributions extended to the coordination and management of critical infrastructure elements, including Unitywater sewer pump stations, a trunk water pressure-reducing valve, and the upgrade of State Controlled Anzac Ave (TMR). This encompassed collaboration with various specialists in traffic, water/sewer networks, acoustics, and odour modelling, ensuring a comprehensive and well-informed approach to the development’s vital components.
